METAL Inclinations award winners

Appreciation Award Given to Hauser & Miller Company

Ray Wenneker of the Society for Midwest Metalsmiths (SMM) presented the SMM Award of Appreciation to Richard Wuennenberg of the Hauser and Miller Company on June 26, 2009. The award is to acknowledge and honor Hauser & Miller's support and funding of SMM's METAL Inclinations International Online Exhibition for 2008-09. www.metalinclinations.org

Hauser and Miller Company has been a major supporter of the Society for Midwest Metalsmith's, exhibitions and programs since 1999. Though the years they generously gave SMM funding for the 1999 SNAG Conference in St. Louis, the "Metal Departures" Exhibition in 2001, the "Stones" Exhibition in 2004, the "Hey, These Things Snap Right Off" Exhibition in 2006 and the METAL Inclinations International Exhibition in 2008-09.

Thanks to all the many supporters of METAL Inclinations 2008-09!
The METAL Inclinations International Exhibition sponsored by SMM was successful because of the tremendous support by the world-wide metalsmithing community and the corporate sponsors who helped to provide financial support.
SMM would like to thank all those who helped to make the exhibition possible. Thanks to the many volunteer/members of SMM who gave their time and talent to make everything come together and thanks to the hundreds of metal artists who submitted their images to be juried by our three jurors; Michael Monroe, Marilyn da Silva and Susy Ganch.
Finally we would like to thank the corporate sponsors of the exhibition, Hauser and Miller Company, Pasternak Findings, Rio Grande and Juried Art Services. Please use the links provided to visit these company's websites. We hope the past year was successful and creative for you.

My favorite image that I would like to submit for the Metal Inclinations exhibition is already sold. May I submit this image, or does it have to be a piece that will be available for sale during the competition? i.e. Will I have to pull the items I submit from my shows this summer?

All three images I will be submitting are from the same line, which has its own artist statement. Should I customize the artist statement attached to each individual image to cover only the specific techniques that are evident in that particular piece, or is it acceptable to use the more general statement for each entry? For example, Some of my pieces use embossed leather, some use copper etching plates, and some use a combination of both materials. Should I remove references to the embossed leather in the artists statement accompanying the piece with just etched copper?

Thank you.

Juried art services is an online application service for art shows and exhibitions. Filling out an application online and uploading your digital images is faster and easier than using slow traditional mail service. Since METAL Inclinations is an international exhibition, Juried Art Services will make the process faster for metalsmiths and jewelers living around the world.
